“Many men go fishing all of their lives without knowing that it is not fish they are after.”

– Henry David Thoreau

This simple quote was the inspiration for “Solitude”, a short film featuring one man fly fishing in the Northumberland National Park.

Our character is alone, in beautiful surroundings, attempting to catch fish.

However, freed from the constraints of actually catching fish, is there still reason enough to be there? Is there any point in fishing, if you don’t catch fish?

Thoreau certainly thought so and as for our fisherman… take a look and see for yourself.
